MODERN FLAPPER: Welcome 2020!

gif

Welcome 2020.

I am extremely excited to announce that A Moxie Movement has been re-launched! Our website was created with you in mind. In celebration of our history and ancestry we have decided our 2020 theme is "Modern Flapper." The flappers of the 1920's were counterculture to the traditional roles of women. For the first time in American history, they had the right to vote. Their new found empowerment led them to social liberation. In 2020, A Moxie Movement wants to give women resources for self empowerment, education and ultimately ways they can engage with their communities. Be on the look out throughout our website and social media for 1920's references. Now, let me explain a few things about how we have changed and how you can still be involved. To begin, AMM began in Abilene, Texas. Although there is a chapter of AMM located in Abilene, we are headquartered in San Antonio, Texas. AMM began as a college campus organization and now AMM is a independent organization, we hope to achieve non-profit status soon!

2020 AMM

A Moxie Movement is still an intersectional bipartisan feminist organization and we hope to empower, educate and engage women in our communities. We have 5 avenues of life we believe are essential to a woman's daily life: Health (physical/mental), Administrative (institutional/bureaucratic), Outreach (social media/social life), Spiritual (self-awareness/worldview) and Polity (political awareness/leadership). These five avenues of life are also the 5 departments that WE (AMM) assist and focus on.

Our mission is to be a platform for women to voice their experiences, a resource for self empowerment and education, and a community that supports one another despite our differences. Our goal, as A Moxie Movement, is to have different and unique chapters of our organization in universities, office jobs, and communities. We want more educated and empowered women to be agents of their own life and engage and give back to their communities.

YOUR ROLE:

1. USE OUR RESOURCES: AMM believes that access to resources is key in empowerment. Our website is intended to have resources that are FREE and accessible with internet. All of our lessons, activities and videos that used at our meetings will be placed in a tab for anyone to access for slower self reflection and meeting curriculum. We ask that you engage with our lessons, apply it to your environment and circumstances, then give us feedback on how to improve.

2. THE MOXIE REPORT: Voicing your experience and perspective is vital to our commitment to support you. Submit poetry, blogs, pictures, art work, etc. to our Moxie Report. This is our blog space where we feature diverse women's experiences and understanding of femininity and of course reports regarding women!

3. FIVE MOXIE DEPARTMENTS: If you have a passion for a few or more of the avenues of life that we focus on. Join our meetings, discussion groups and lessons on each of our departments. Reach out to the Director of the department if you are interested in volunteering with our executive team.

4. AMM CHAPTER. A Moxie Movement will provide lessons, activities and an outline of how AMM meetings should structurally run. As a president of AMM chapter, you will have the freedom to implement and add to the curriculum based on your experiences, campus/office/ community culture, and hardships.

Now that you are up to date with our re-launch message, follow us on social media, and be on the search for information about our first meeting. Enjoy the rest of our website and welcome!
